Jean Pierre Braganza

Designer:  London born, with an Irish mother and Asian father, Jean-Pierre Braganza moved to Canada as an infant. Initially studying fine art, he later moved back to pursue his dream of studying at the prestigious Central St. Martins School. Braganza excelled, winning the Colin Barnes award for illustration in his final year and receiving a first in the main area of study.

On graduation in 2002, he worked with Roland Mouret, honing his tailoring and draping skills, all while developing his appreciation of the female form. In 2004, Jean-Pierre’s debuted his eponymous own label at London Fashion Week. Showcasing his collections around the world, Braganza has shown On-Schedule during both London and Milan fashion weeks. Securing finalists for many a prestigious award, including the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Forward award, The Swiss Textiles award, and the Mango fashion award; Braganza went on to be selected by Karl Lagerfeld as his protégé for the AW08/09 season.

JULY 2007 – Invited to present a retropective of work at the Nuovo Magazine Festival in Barcelona.

JULY 2006 – Invited to present menswear SS07 collection at Ideal, Berlin.

MARCH 2005 – Fashion festival “MADOS INFEKCIJA” in Vilnius, Lithuania.

MARCH/APRIL 2005 – Participated in ‘Melting Pot’ at Singapore Fashion Festival.

NOVEMBER 2004 – Chosen as the International Designer at Osaka Fashion Festival, Japan

FEBRUARY 2004 – Presented 1st own-label catwalk at London Fashion Week – Featured in September showcase of ‘Fashion In Motion’ at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London

2002 – Won the Colin Barnes Award at Central Saint Martin’s College for fashion illustration.

2001 – Dress exhibited in ‘Curvaceous’ at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, an exhibition exploring the influences of Victorian corsetry.
